I have a 100M roll of 3 mm steel cable which I have been using in the garden. I have been using a pair of end cutters but it takes two hands, all my strength and several attempts to cut it. Even then it can leave a frayed end. With these cutters I can cut the cable using one hand, without straining, and it leaves a clean neat end. I was a little sceptical as they were not expensive. They do the job perfectly and we’re very good value for the money. I would highly recommend them.

Not up yo Draper normal standard. You need very large and strong hands to use them comfortably and for any length of time, as the spring is very strong and the grips open up too wide for normal sized hands.

I took a punt on these over a set of knipex cutters and so far I'm not disappointed. Make no mistake they feel cheap compared to a knipex set but they're 1/3rd of the price. I've only cut one bikes with of cables with them but they've held up very well and work brilliantly. If you don't mind a cheap feeling to which gets the job done with no fuss then these are for you. Far better than the bike specific park tools cutters which are a load of rubbish!

This tool is very easy to use and quickly and neatly cuts multi-stranded bicycle brake and gear cables. Cable ends left neat with no unraveling, ready to solder or apply end ferrules (even some supplied with the tool - very thoughtful of the vendor).

I don't usually buy cheap tools, you always buy twice and spend more than the expensive item. However......even though all my specialist and big tools are Park Tools I don't cut a lot of cable so thought £12 V £40 worth a chance, and they both have blue handles lol. It is solid and cuts very cleanly, so much so, that I was pushed to tell which was the factory cut end. I have seen reviews which state that it does not cut the cable cleanly. I think they are trying to cut the spiral wound outer cover. You need your normal side cutters for this, save these for the inner wire cable. Feels well made and I think it will last very well. Other reviews say you need a big hand to close the handle, well if it didn't open so wide the small jaws would not have the cutting diameter they have. Draper are like this, they have some very good items, you just have to know which ones they are, and these are very good. Ciao.Read full review
