The light brightness adjustment is smooth , and intensity is more than bright enough for my use for measurement purposes. The light is absolutely shadow free. To fit on my Bausch & Lomb stereo microscope I needed a different adapter. The supplied adapter is 48mm. I knew that it would not fit my microscope, so I ordered a 38mm ring adapter from another Ebay source, and it works fine. Easy to remove via the three adjustable mount clamping screws. The AmScope ring light works great for illuminating any subject matter under the scope. I found that with its' variable light intensity controls I was able to better view and accentuate specific areas to be examined and of further interest. I was totally surprised by the quality and value of this item. Might be what you are looking for
there is nothing obviously wrong with this. The price is certainly far below others by a factor of 10 or more. What you get is a well fitting holder to most dissecting scopes and an array of LEDs that illuminates your specimen better than the room lights. It does so in a light blue glow and very gently.

Very Nice, But.....
This light is very nice and well made, but if you are planning on using this on a AmScope that is built with an upper light installed you will either have to remove that light to mount this ring light or be satisfied with the light that comes on the microscope. You cannot use both at the same time.
