eBay Motors Installs a Classic Intake on ’67 Mustang’s 427 Cobra FE

The eBay Motors ’67 Mustang Fastback was on the road again last week. It left the Goodguys show in Columbus, Ohio—and rolled south to the Kenwood Rod Shop in Sharpsburg, Ga., where plenty of work is on the agenda this week. (Learn more about the “On The Road with eBay Motors” tour.)

Crucial parts that arrived from eBay Motors were installed in recent weeks. The 427 Cobra FE motor was fitted with an aluminum Edelbrock intake manifold and a classic Holly 750 CFM Ultra Double Pumper Carburetor (with mechanical secondaries). The new stainless-steel fuel lines are run from the Drake stainless-steel fuel tank and fed by an Edelbrock Performer RPM Street Fuel Pump.

The Edelbrock Performer RPM mechanical fuel pump produces 6 psi and features a unique valve design.

Rutledge Wood, Randy Allgood, and the crew at Kenwood are waiting for more goodies to arrive from eBay Motors. While the fuel system is in place, there’s no spark—as the crew waits for the wiring harness, MSD 6AL ignition box, coil, and alternator to show up.

The cooling system presents an intriguing challenge. A new custom aluminum radiator needs to be ordered because the outlet to the engine is on the wrong side of the current radiator for the 427 Cobra FE motor.

A Magnaflow 2.5-inch stainless dual-exhaust system just arrived at the shop and will soon be installed. The Magnaflow system is equipped with straight-through oval mufflers featuring a moderate sound level and polished stainless tips.

With a tight schedule, the team’s goal is to have the car running for its appearance at the Woodward Dream Cruise in Michigan on Aug. 19. Then, it gets immediately shipped to the Goodguys West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton, Calif., which takes place the following weekend.

The Holly 750 Double Pumper is a temporary solution so the engine is operational for Woodward Dream Cruise and Goodguys in Pleasanton. A custom built eight-stack fuel injection system is also in the works. “We’re far from being done,” Rut added.
